Remove Background strips the background from any image and outputs a transparent PNG. The subject stays intact. Use this for product photos, headshots, logos, or any image where you need the subject isolated.

How to remove a background

Select an image on the canvas

Click on the image you want to edit. The selection toolbar appears.

Click Remove BG

Click the Remove BG button in the toolbar. The AI processes the image.

A new image appears

A new image with the background removed appears on the canvas next to the original. The original is preserved.
Use the canvas toolbar button instead of asking the agent in chat. Direct canvas edits use up to 10x fewer credits.

What you cannot do

  • You cannot choose which parts of the background to keep. It is all-or-nothing.
  • You cannot remove backgrounds from videos with this tool. Use video background removal instead (available under AI Videos).
